Contemporary Extension to a Stone Cottage

Olveston, South Gloucestershire

For this project just outside Bristol my clients needed help to reconfigure their cottage which had poor flow and did not make best use of the stunning views towards the River Severn. They were also keen to reconfigure the bedrooms and bathrooms to meet the needs of their growing family.

We introduced a two storey extension which creates a contemporary design statement, providing a new bedroom and bathroom at first floor, with expanded living space below. Large sliding doors make the most of the expansive views, whilst a reconfigured terrace with glass balustrade enhances the outdoor space.

Situated within the Green Belt and a conservation area, careful design decisions were made to ensure that the project addressed the local context and did not appear disproportionate to the existing property.
