About
Joshua Hovey is an independent ARB registered architect based in Clevedon, North Somerset, specializing in design-led, practical architectural design for homeowners and landowners across North Somerset, Greater Bristol, the Mendips, and surrounding areas.
Having gained extensive experience in the Cotswolds, Joshua relocated to the Bristol area in 2024 and continues to build on his strong reputation for thoughtful design and reliable professional service.
Whether adapting a character property or designing a modern addition, Joshua combines creativity with practical problem solving and construction experience to deliver spaces that are beautiful, functional, and add value to your home.
As a sole practitioner, Joshua offers a personal, end-to-end service. Every stage of your project is handled directly, giving you a single point of contact, clear communication, and total continuity from initial concept through to detailed plans.
What to Expect
Personal 1-to-1 Contact: You work directly with me from day one, giving you consistent communication without being passed between different team members.
Collaborative Design Process: I believe a collaborative approach is fundamental to the design process. I will gently guide and advise you on design decisions with your best interests in mind.
Early 3D Visualisations: I use 3D computer modelling early in the design process so you can clearly understand spatial flow, materials and light before committing to final plans.
Building Performance & Heritage: Trained in low-energy building principles and a certified Passivhaus designer, I bring a strong understanding of thermal upgrades and energy efficiency to both existing homes and sensitive listed buildings, without compromising historic character.
Practical, Buildable Designs: My work is grounded in real-world construction logic, making it easier for builders to deliver your vision accurately and on budget.
