Listed Building Extension
Idbury, North Cotswolds
This project involved the renovation and extension of a Grade II listed cottage nestled in the North Cotswolds hills with stunning views over the valley below. My clients approached me looking to create expanded living spaces which would make the most of the views whilst respecting the character and setting of the listed building.
The existing internal spaces, whilst characterful, lacked natural light and connection with the garden. Through the introduction of a contemporary extension with a glazed link, and careful reconfiguration of the kitchen and utility spaces, we were able to transform the functionality of the property.
Located within the Cotswolds AONB, a conservation area, and also being Grade II listed, it was vital that the design responded to the character and setting of the host building. We worked closely with the local authority conservation department to agree a design that met this brief whilst still achieving the clients aims.
